Trails for Youth.Org currently works with close to 15 Northern Virginia schools to coordinate and implement the Safe Routes to School education and encouragement program elements.  Through our efforts we have reached over 8,000 youth and engaged them in many activities supporting the need to be more active in walking or biking to and from school.  Through participation in International Walk 2 School Day, bicycle rodeos and skills sessions, Walking Wednesdays, Frequent Walker programs, Fitness Fridays, Go Green Transportation Clubs, Parent and Student Pedestrian seminars, we mentor youth on the importance of creating a healthy lifestyle and choosing to walk or bike to / from school and beyond.

TYO works with local schools to promote safe walking and pedestrian access for local children to schools while teaching the children sustainable safe transportion habits.

If you would like your school to participate in the Safe Routes to School Programs, contact Megan Brooks at megan@tfkmetrodc.org.  If you are interested in scheduling a bicycle rodeo at your school we are happy to offer this on-site service.
