On every trip, safety is of utmost importance! Our ride leaders are trained in first aid and CPR and are experienced mountain bikers. We provide bikes for as many as ten youth at a time. In addition, we provide ride leaders, helmets, gloves, and water bottles. Although most of the youth that we work with have never been mountain biking, they will need to know how to ride a bike.

Come Mountain Biking with Trips for Kids!

Trips for Kids is a non-profit organization that brings at-risk youth, ages 10 to 17, on day-long mountain bike trips in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. We incorporate education on self esteem, health and the environment with bike skills, trail etiquette, and FUN into all of our trips.

How do you make this happen?

  • Call (703-209-5721) or email us to arrange a date. We take trips on the weekends for most of the year.
  • Recruit a maximum of ten kids (twenty if you want to book two groups).
  • Give participants release forms (available below) to be filled out and then signed by their parents. The child can not participate in the ride unless the completed form is given to us on the day of the ride.
  • Arrange for one or two adults from the agency to drive and supervise.
  • Call one week prior to the trip with the heights of ALL participants who need a bike.
  • Bring your group to the trail head with release forms and be ready to ride!
